The coconut, lemon, and berry scents are subtle and lovely—not exactly what you expect from a bar soap.
September 1, 2024
TL;DR:
What it is: A line of Dove bar soaps that feel more sophisticated than the usual bar soap
What it does: Gently cleanses while making your shower smell amazing
Who it’s for: Fans of scented body wash, especially ones who like using something that smells good in the shower but don’t want to smell like their wearing perfume after they’re out
Bar soaps are usually more utilitarian than fun, but the sweetly scented Dove Plant Milk Cleansing Bars actually liven up your shower. The fragrances are subtle while you’re sudsing—so I get a hint of coconut or berry or lemon as I start or end my day, depending on which bar I reach for—and they don’t linger on skin for long, so they won’t compete with fragrances you wear. I keep one of each in my shower now, and love reaching for a different one every day—when I need a little pick-me-up in the morning, it’s Lemon Drop; when I want to decompress at night, it’s Coconut Milk & Sugar Lychee; and when I’m in the mood for a little something sweet, it’s Berry Brulee. I’ve always been a fan of the Dove Beauty Bar (which is probably still the better bet for dry or sensitive skin), so I wasn’t surprised to find that the soapy lather on these Dove bar soaps is gentle and easy to rinse off—what I didn’t expect was how they would turn my showers into what feels like mini aromatherapy sessions.
